Dear Hessequa event organisers,
The Wesgro event support programme for the 2024/2025 financial year is open for applications until 29 February 2024. The application process will be online again and only applications received via the online platform will be considered. All enquiries related to the programme should be addressed to eventsdmo@wesgro.co.za.
Event partnerships allow Wesgro’s tourism team to collaborate with various niche and smaller leisure events around the Western Cape, creating an opportunity to promote the broader Western Cape tourism destination offering, and the variety of tourism experiences for all ages. Events are a catalyst for economic impact and job creation and can put smaller towns and “dorpies” on the tourism map, combating seasonality whilst creating a sustainable events pipeline.
Please note the focus will be on events covering the following themes:
- Gastronomy (Food and Wine)
- Active Adventure (Outdoor Activities & Sport)
- Heritage and Culture
- Halal
- Sustainability (including community-based tourism)
Wesgro aims to prioritise events taking place in the Garden Route and Klein Karoo region, between April and October. Special consideration for events taking place outside of the above dates will only be considered through specific requests/endorsements by the Regional Tourism Organisation, which in the case of Hessequa, is the Garden Route and Klein Karoo Tourism unit at a district level.
Criteria to apply includes the submission of the following documents:
- Event documents:
– Letter of endorsement from the regional or local tourism office the event takes place in
– Event proposal
– Business plan
– Budget allocation for the event
– Any other supportive documents
- Compliance documents:
– WCBD 4 form / Declaration of Interest (https://shorturl.at/mqrCJ)
– Most recent CSD Report (https://shorturl.at/cepuQ)
– SARS Tax Certificate
– Company Registration Number

Please note that you need to request an endorsement letter through my office, should you want to apply. It is highly recommended to request this endorsement letter well in advance to avoid any delays.
